Road safety guide for the design of BRT systems – Colombia.

OBJETO: Preparation of a guide to establish road and pedestrian safety guidelines for the design and operation of mass transportation systems on buses for Colombian cities (central and side-lanes).

DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PROYECTO: The development of the project included the preparation of a Guide, based on the review of the pilot version of the document on road safety guidelines in bus corridors prepared by EMBARQ; the review and analysis of accidents in the Integrated Mass Transportation Systems in Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Pereira and Bucaramanga; the identification and diagnosis of the problem of accidents in the integrated mass transit systems (SITM) and, finally, the road safety recommendations for the design and operation of roads, public space and pedestrian crossings, stations and terminals for mass bus transportation systems.
